Pointour is so excited to be a part of Winona and everything the city has to offer. Below you can find a few suggestions for the things you should check out when you're in town.

Winona County Historical Society

This beautiful museum perfectly combines old and new even in its architecture. The original Armory for the National Guard still stands as the main exhibit space, while next to it sits a beautiful and modern addition housing temporary exhibitions, a gift shop (the perfect place to stock up on Winona souvenirs) and community gathering spaces. Visitors will find a number of fascinating artifacts and even spaces for kids to learn about the city's history through hands-on exhibits. The Society also operates two other fascinating historical structures: The Bunnell House, the home of the first white family to settle in Winona County; and the Rural Heritage Museum, an incredible glimpse into pioneer life.

Winona National Bank

This gorgeous and historic structure was designed by famous architect George W. Maher, and while Maher was a master of the Prairie School style he did quite well for himself in this building, which combines the Egyptian Revival Style (notice how the front entrance is mildly reminiscent of an Egyptian temple) and elements of the Prairie School. On the inside visitors will find the original furnishings done to complement the windows by the famous Tiffany studio, Italian marble, the original steel vault and the original owner's impressive gun collection. Throughout the bank the taxidermy collection of the bank's first owners can be found as well including a massive stuffed lion in the bank's lobby. Of course, banking is done there as well.

A delicious spot for a sandwich, Benos Deli is located right in the heart of the city (in fact visitors stop for a break here on Downtown Winona Walking Tours on Tuesdays-Saturdays). This unique deli is located in a gorgeous building that was once the site of the Winona City Hall, which is now located across the street. Sandwich options include such unique choices as "Cheese Done it Again" and the "Clint Eastwich." Soup, salad and a selection of desserts can also be purchased.
